About Truckmen
Our History
With twenty years of experience in the trucking industry, the founder of Truckmen Corporation, Jeff Jenks, started the company in 1991. Truckmen began as a freight agent with about 33,000 square feet of warehousing space on Township Road in Geneva, Ohio. Shortly after its inception, Truckmen bought three cab-over trucks, which did mostly local trips, but eventually did some over the road work also. Those three trucks ended up as the flagships for Truckmen when the signature sunglasses and ears were painted on them! Right around this time Truckmen Corp started its "Drive-to-Own" program allowing new drivers to lease a truck and pay for it as they hauled freight for the company. When the truck was paid off, that driver owned it and could reap the benefits of being an owner/operator. Around 1995, Truckmen invested in ten new flatbed trailers with red "curtains" that would protect freight without tarps and could be side, end or top loaded. In 2004, Truckmen purchased property on Bishop Road (butting up to I-90), creating a triangle with the other two properties now called the Truckmen "campus". The building on Bishop Road became the new home of the Truckmen offices. Our shop also expanded and is now responsible for Truckmen's five "city" trucks, over forty line-haul trucks, nearly 15 curtain-side trailers and a set of owned, leased or rented van trailers approaching one hundred in number- all in addition to servicing outside clients. The warehouse division now operates 150,000 square feet and has expanded its value added services to include freight forwarding, bar code labeling, inventory tracking, just in time delivery, racking, cross-docking, vendor managed inventory and more. With its resources, experience, infrastructure and flexibility, Truckmen Corporation continues to prove itself as a solution provider and promise-keeper for its customers.
Our Future
Truckmen is proud to announce the growth partnerships award naming us 2006 Best of County. Business has steadily increased since 1991 due to our reliability and dedication to service. We will continue that trend by looking for dedicated services, consistent brokerage lanes, and customers who need increased efficiency through our service oriented programs. In 2005 we joined the Distributors and Consolidators of America, an organization of carriers and warehousemen who provide value added services similar to Truckmen. It is a peer group we are proud to be associated with. We plan to build on the reputation we started back in ’91, and our 2006 Best of County award strengthens. Our future is so bright – even our trucks have to wear shades!
